Teaching Experience
During my undergraduate and graduate studies at Pratt Institute, I progressed from classroom observation and student teaching to independently teaching middle school portfolio and children’s visual storytelling classes. My experience also includes museum and CPC internships, followed by one year as a full-time art teacher in a New York City public school. Across school, museum, and community settings, I have supported diverse learning needs while encouraging students to explore art media and materials, express themselves, and develop their creativity.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching centers on students, honoring diverse cultural backgrounds and learning needs. Through hands-on exploration and art-making, I help students connect personal experiences with creative expression. An inclusive classroom and individualized feedback support each student’s confidence and artistic voice.

P188X at P.S. 138X
During my year as a full-time art teacher in special education, I focused on helping children discover themselves and express their feelings through art, beyond developing technical skills. I adapted materials and activities to each child’s needs, allowing them to explore, make choices, and create at their own pace. These artworks reflect their unique ways of experiencing the world and their growing confidence in expressing themselves.
P.S. Vincent D. Grippo School
In this elementary, I guided children to explore who they are and express their feelings through self-portraits, ceramics, and digital collage. From painting themselves and making bowls that symbolize care and self-worth to sharing their stories through images and words, each activity offered a chance to discover what makes them unique.
Middle College High School at LaGuardia
During my high school student teaching, I helped students build foundational drawing and painting skills while encouraging them to explore their own ideas. By balancing technical guidance with independent art-making, I supported students in developing their own artistic voice.
East Elmhurst Community School
In this art unit on relationships, I guided students to explore how posture, gesture, and the space between figures communicate emotions and human connections. Through drawing, collage, and figurative sculpture, children transformed everyday interactions into visual stories, discovering how relationships can be expressed without words.
Pratt Saturday Art School Fall 2023
In my middle school portfolio class, I invited students to draw meaningful personal objects, connecting observational drawing with their lived experiences. As they developed their drawing skills, students explored their identities and shared their stories through art.
Pratt Saturday Art School Spring 2024
In Drawn to Story, I guided children to design original characters inspired by ocean animals, tell their stories through folded books, and bring them to life as sculptures. Connecting drawing, storytelling, and three-dimensional art-making, the course encouraged students to take ownership of their ideas and build imaginative worlds of their own.
Museum Education
During my museum internship, I helped design a family guide with looking prompts, discussion questions, and creative activities. The guide encouraged children and caregivers to explore art together, making museum visits an opportunity for shared discovery and conversation.
